Follow Your Dream

You Attract the right things when you have a sense of who you are. -Amy Poehler

Ever since I was little I’ve always known who I am. I went against the grain of the normal kid and did my own thing. I never gave in to peer pressure. I was quite stubborn actually…I knew what I wanted and worked until I got it. Naturally becoming an entrepreneur was written in the stars for me I think. I truly don’t believe I could do anything but. I started my own business a handful of times growing up, and eventually when I got to college and was 18 I started one that stuck. Something that I feel to the core is what I’m suppose to do. This September that company will turn 9 years old. As I look back and think of all the challenges, obstacles, and failed attempts at one thing or another I wouldn’t change any of it. I learned from all of it, and grew to better myself and my company, which is really just a reflection of myself. Vixen is me through and through. I can only hope I’ve created something that people feel connected to and enjoy working with.

The main reason for this post is to encourage you to go  for your dreams. If you are working at a job that you hate  or doesn’t fulfill you and bring meaning to your life.  Change it. Seriously. Life is too short to not do  something that you enjoy. If you are doing something  that you genuinely enjoy it doesn’t seem like work. Is it  scary to make that jump? Absolutely terrifying…but its  worth it. Now, you can’t just wait for things to come to  you, you HAVE to get out there to network and get your  name out there. It’s not going to be easy, its a lot of hard work. You will think about it day and night but you are in charge of your destiny, not someone else, its all in your hands to decide what you will do with it. You’ll definitely want to have those key people that help you along the way, that are outsiders who can give you a fresh perspective, as well as other business owners that can give you advice based on their experiences and what they’ve learned from them. Those people are key to have on your path to starting your own endeavor.

You will definitely have ups and downs, have inner struggles and question yourself on whether or not you’re making the right decisions. You have to keep at it..”Doubt, of whatever kind, can be ended by action alone”  I myself have been going through this struggle recently, I reach for inspiration in whatever form it may appear. I may pick up a good business book, or reach out to those individuals I talked about earlier. Its not an easy road but it is by far the most rewarding. Surround yourself with people that inspire you and challenge you. Find good people to work with and who have the same vision as you, and most importantly know who you are.

“There is only one success – to be able to spend your life in your own way”

So take today to start working towards that dream.

My personal shout outs to the people that have inspired me, helped me, and encouraged me. I will never be able to thank you enough.
